Athena Mentor

Mentoring, and the role of the mentor, has roots that extend far beyond advice or expertise. One of the earliest expressions of the mentor archetype appears in The Odyssey, through the relationship between Athena, Mentor, and Telemachus.

Athena, goddess of wisdom and discernment, chooses to appear as Mentor, a trusted human guide. Through dialogue, encouragement, reflective challenge, and a steady presence, she supports Telemachus in awakening capacities already seeking expression within him.

In this sense, mentoring is a developmental relationship that nurtures growth, learning, and the unfolding of human potential.
